ProData Announces ProTools Utility Suite

Omaha, Nebraska - May 8, 2002

ProData Computer Services, Inc., makers of the flagship product, DBU, and a long-time IBM eServer iSeries software vendor, today announced ProTools, a utility suite for technologists on the iSeries. The ProTools package offers a multitude of much needed utilities for the midrange professional, most of which will be used on a daily basis in iSeries shops. ProTools features eighteen system utilities which every development shop can use. However, the most significant inclusion in this package is the source code for each individual tool. Small development shops can use this entire suite not only to perform the functionality included in the package, but to learn how to create the functionality for integration into other processes.

The most notable of the eighteen tools in the product suite include the File Based Menu System, the E-mail Message System, the Zip/Unzip File Utility, and the Program File Cross Reference Tool. The File-Based Menu System stores all menu options in a physical file, which means there is nothing to create or compile. It consistently executes the functions in the same manner for each menu system required. With the Email Message System, users can send internet mail messages from the traditional green screen command line, submit to batch or execute from a batch or interactive program. Users can also compress/uncompress stream files and send as attachments to their email. And finally, the Program File Cross Reference provides programmers with the ability to easily discover which programs are accessing which files. This is extremely useful in system analysis research.

With the addition of ProTools to its line of software, ProData continues to offer a feature-rich suite of products that loyal followers have come to expect. "With ProTools, we are ‘sharing the magic’ of the technology behind some of the tools we have developed over the years," said Marion Wamsat, one of the owners at ProData. ProTools is designed to complement other ProData productivity utilities for the iSeries 400 and can be packaged with DBU, SQL/PRO, RDR (Retrieve Deleted Records) or additional programmer tools offered by ProData.
